Women of the ELCA

The Women of Our Savior’s

The Women of Our Savior’s, led by President Gloria Sharp and their board, is a very active group! Any female member of OSLC is considered a member of the women’s group and is welcome to join in on any and all of the various events and projects coordinated by this dynamic ministry. Please note that this energetic group not only is involved in local charitable drives but their generosity of spirit and the desire to help those in need extends to Lutheran World Relief projects as well!

Quilt Making

Every year several women meet each week to quilt throughout the year. These quilts are then packed and shipped to Lutheran World Relief to be distributed overseas and in the United States. In 2025, 148 quilts were assembled by a small group of OSLC quilters. Our Savior’s also hosts the Lutheran World Relief Ingathering of Quilts and kits from area Lutheran Churches so they can all be picked up by a semi from one central location in Mid-Missouri.

Easter Baskets

Each Spring, OSLC’s Women of the ELCA collect items for Easter Baskets for under-privileged children. Baskets filled with Love and Kindness, candy, stuffed animals and little games and books, etc. are prepared and delivered to the Samaritan Center for their distribution. In 2026 we put 103 together.

Throughout the Year

Personal Care Kit items and items for School Kits are collected all year. In 2025, 130 Personal Care kits and 188 School kits were assembled and sent to Lutheran World Relief in October.

Donations

Finally, with money raised throughout the year, the Women’s group is able to make a number of donations. In 2025, $5,155 was donated to: Churchwide and Synod Women of the ELCA, Christmas Gifts to Congregational Families, Oaks Indian Mission, ELCA World Hunger, ELCA Disaster Response and S.A.L.T.
