As a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, we find our mission through the saving grace of God as expressed in the life, death and resurrection of Christ.
This is summed up for us in three ministry values.
- Grace is our foundational understanding of God's salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 reads "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God--not the result of works, so that no one may boast."
- Inclusion indicates our understanding that God's grace touches al people of all ages. As a result, the coming into the family of God through Baptism is open to people of any age, and Communion is open to any baptized Christian (including guests). People who would like to join OSLC, be Baptized or begin receiving Communion should speak with Pastor Musselman.
- Diversity is an integral part of life at OSLC. Our congregation offers a variety of worship experiences, many musical and dramatic opportunities and relational groups for spiritual growth.
Worship: Sunday begins with a traditional Lutheran worship experience at 9:00 a.m. It offers Christian liturgy and hymns. Hymns are played on the organ and the choir sings at most services. The 10:30 a.m. praise worship has a community outreach focus and features the OPT for Jesus Worship Team leading a variety of upbeat, contemporary songs of praise.
Baptism: We love God because he first loved and chose us. As a means of God’s grace, then, we encourage people of any age to claim our eternal inheritance as members of the family of God through baptism.Communion: Since Jesus welcomed all who came to him in faith, we welcome all believers in Christ to come to his supper. Baptized children who would like First Communion should meet with Pastor Musselman for an orientation.
Prayer, Praise and Promise for Children: Children ages 3 through Grade 5 are encouraged to come Sunday mornings at 10:30 throughout the entire year for a special time just for them to learn about God through Bible story, drama, crafts, games and other fun activities.
Brunch: Studies have shown that people will have a positive experience in a congregation if they believe they have friends in that faith community. The Sunday brunch at 10:00 a.m. is a wonderful time to gather together in fellowship to become friends in Christ.
Membership: People are received into membership at various worship services throughout the year. Being a member of Our Savior’s implies that one desires to be "Growing Together in Christ; Reaching Out in Love" through faithful stewardship of time, abilities and finances. Speak with Pastor Musselman for more information on spiritual gifts development, ministry teams and relational small groups.
